Katarina La Poll is a Filipino American poet, performer, and teaching artist. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area in a big family alongside her five siblings and five cousins, Katarina has always been just one point in a larger constellation. Shaped by an early sense of interconnection, Katarina has built a work ethic spanning the performing and literary arts that is rooted in collaboration. Katarina trained at the William Esper Studio for Performing Arts and has received writing support from the Community of Writers and Columbia University School of the Arts where she holds an MFA in creative writing with a concentration in poetry. She has ghostwritten for leading voices across industries and works with families to preserve their elders’ life stories. Fascinated by the inner workings of the heart and mind, as inscribed in archival material such as old tapes, scribbled notes, love letters, to-do lists, Katarina documents oral histories and collaborates with storytellers to reimagine their life stories through artistic mediums including narrative nonfiction, poetry, and performance. She teaches creative writing workshops at libraries and Writopia Lab alongside making her own creative projects.  She is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
