Katarina La Poll grew up in the California Bay Area alongside her five siblings. Her work spans both the performing and literary arts. Katarina has received support from the Community of Writers, the William Esper Studio for Performing Arts, and Columbia University School of the Arts where she holds an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry. Fascinated by the inner workings of the heart and mind, as inscribed in archival material such as old tapes, scribbled notes, love letters, to-do lists, Katarina documents oral histories and collaborates with storytellers to reimagine their life stories through artistic mediums including narrative nonfiction, poetry, and performance. She teaches a generative workshop on autobiographical writing in community settings such as local libraries, and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.
